1.钢边橡胶止水带系以一般可伸缩的橡胶和两边配有镀锌钢边所组成的复合件。这种止水带主要靠中间的橡胶段在混凝土变形缝间被压缩或拉伸，而起到密封止水作用。一般来说，混凝土和橡胶的粘附力较差，在常规施工中，又因橡胶是柔软弹性体，使混凝土在浇筑时不易被掏实，故在混凝土接缝膨胀，扯离、扭转时会经常出现钢边橡胶止水带松动和脱落，以致在水头压力较高情况下会产生渗漏现象。对于变形缝大的接缝来说，问题就更为突出。采用镀锌钢边橡胶止水带，基本上可以克服纯橡胶桥式止水带的这些不足。而且这种复合式止水带还具有双重功能，即一方面可以延长途径，延缓渗水速度，另一方面镀锌钢边和混凝土有着良好的粘附性，使止水带能承受较大的拉力和扭力，从而保证钢边橡胶止水带的混凝土中的有效变形范围内不会产生松动和脱落现象，提高止水效果。
2.钢边橡胶止水带施工方法：
1、先将钢边橡胶止水带按设计要求，放在规定的部位。
2、利用钢边橡胶止水带二边的安装孔，用铁丝将钢边橡胶止水带与钢筋网捆扎定位。钢边橡胶止水带定位时应二边钢带外侧高于中间橡胶止水带形成u字型安装。
3、模板应严格按施工操作规程要求进行施工，安装在钢边橡胶止水带的中间橡胶0型环上下二面间的平面上，模板要牢固，谨防混凝土浇灌振捣时模板移位。
4、安装好的钢边橡胶止水带在施工时一定要保护和支撑好未浇捣混凝土部分的橡胶止水带，在浇捣止水带附近混凝土时要细微振捣，尤其在水平部分，止水带下缘的混凝土更要细微，使混凝土中的气泡从钢边橡胶止水带翼下跑出来，当混凝土捣面超过止水带平面后，可以剪断铁丝，使止水带呈水平状态。
5、钢边橡胶止水带二侧的钢带安装时，钢边橡胶止水带在转角处应按r的半径要求转弯，并保持钢带平整，使钢带与混凝土有效的结合，起到良好的止水效果。
6、钢边橡胶止水带在运输时要妥善保护好，贮藏时应通风，避免油污和阳光直射。注：定位水平段止水带两翼也可以用ф6mm短钢筋与安装孔绑牢，施工时用人工将钢边橡胶止水带侧翼上翘达到排除汽泡目
